In her research and teaching, Anja Becker focuses on lyrical and epic dialogues, metaphors in Holy Spirit texts, Low German prayers and songs, and matters of historical narrative research. What fascinates her about German literature written between 800 and 1600 is the complex relationship between the familiar and the unfamiliar. How can we engage with the unfamiliar without immediately isolating it through the way we approach it? This question, which can also be applied to current social challenges, is at the heart of her reflections on pre-modern literature. As the first in her family to go to university, she also wants to help ensure that no one feels alienated at university because of their background.
