The MA Media and Public Engagement program leads to a Master's degree (MA) after two years of study. The program is designed as a full subject and comprises 120 CP. The program is designed to accept 24 students per year at the beginning of the winter semester. The start of the Master's program is scheduled for the winter semester 2024/25.
The degree program comprises a total of 11 modules. Four modules are allocated to a communication and media studies Core Area A:

Of the 11 modules of the MA Media and Public Engagement, six are compulsory modules, four are compulsory elective modules and one is a final module. While the compulsory modules ensure an in-depth education in the core area of communication and media studies with a focus on media and public engagement at a uniformly high level, the compulsory elective modules allow students to set their own individual focus. Different seminars are offered as part of the compulsory elective modules, from which the individually preferred courses can be selected. In the compulsory elective modules, however, it is possible to choose between individual modules. A total of three of the four compulsory elective modules on offer must be attended, with one each from the supplementary and practical areas. The third is freely assignable. This means that ten modules, including the final thesis, are completed during the course of study.
Additional options arise from the fact that in the core area a) the topic of the independent study can be freely determined by the students, b) in the integration area students can choose from various method exercises and research seminars, and c) in the practical area students can choose from various practical media courses.
As a rule, each module comprises two content-related face-to-face courses, each lasting two semester hours per week (SWS), which have different teaching, learning and examination for- mats and thus demand and promote different skills of the students. Lectures and presentations, written assignments or project concepts and reports are used to deepen the scientific and prac- tical content developed in the face-to-face courses in relation to individual thematic focuses or practical studies.
All modules are offered in cycles, i.e. modules of the 1st and 3rd semesters are offered in the winter semester, modules of the 2nd and 4th semesters in the summer semester. In this way, all compulsory and compulsory elective courses are realized in the enrolment cycle.
