Internationalization Fund

Call for Internationalization Fund
Internationality has been one of the guiding goals of the University of Bremen since its founding in 1971. Today, it is a globally visible and networked university that strives to provide its students with a global perspective in diverse internationally oriented study programs and to offer researchers from all over the world ideal conditions for excellent research and teaching.
Purpose of funding
In order to enable the university's researchers to pursue more extensive projects in the spirit of internationalization, the Rectorate provides additional funds each year through an Internationalization Fund.
Funding is provided exclusively for projects that are suitable for providing impetus for longer-term internationalization projects in teaching, research and transfer. The measures must be expected to have sustainable effects that go beyond the one-time activity and must be described in detail in the application.
The submission of interdisciplinary, cross-departmental project ideas is particularly welcomed. An integration of the strategic partnerships and networks (YUFE and YERUN) of the University of Bremen and a reference to sustainability topics will be given special consideration.
The funding rates in the individual funding lines are based on the DAAD/DFG rates and are presented in a separate guideline (funding rates, eligible expenses, details on the funding lines).
For advice and further inquiries, please contact the International Office.
Possible funding formats are:
- Stimulus for international cooperation projects (preparatory trips, coordination meetings, kick-off workshops,
- Invitations of visiting scholars for short-term stays to participate in the teaching process
- Projects for the internationalization of teaching including virtual projects (international short-term programs, student excursions, SHK support for international teaching projects, integrated courses with international partners, tasks within the framework of international doctoral projects, etc.).
Eligible expenses include travel and accommodation costs, material resources, organizational costs, personnel resources (student assistants). Hospitality costs are not eligible for funding.
Measures for which funds are available from other funding sources (external third-party funding sources including DAAD, EU- ERASMUS, Central Research Funding, YERUN Research Mobility Award, Cardiff Fund, etc.) cannot be funded.
