French doctoral student Jody Danard has been awarded this year's DAAD Prize for her outstanding academic achievements and special social commitment. The award is endowed with 1,000 euros. Jody Danard was born in Nantes (France) and has been a doctoral student at the University of Bremen since 2022. Here she is doing her doctorate in francophone literary studies. In addition to her studies and her doctorate, Jody Danard has been involved in various areas on a voluntary basis.

A delegation from the Odessa National University of Economics recently visited Faculty 7, Business Studies and Economics at the University of Bremen.
YUFE Joint meeting
Various participants of the YUFE network (Executive Committee Meeting, YUFE Student Forum and YUFE WP leads) met for two days in Bremen. The meeting took place in the new university building at Domshof and at Fraunhofer MEVIS.
Sustainability Fair 2024
The Green Office of the University of Bremen hosted a sustainability fair in the Glass Hall on 24 October 2024 from 11:00 to 15:00.
We participated with the International Office and presented the urban gardening project by kompass and the Erasmus+ Green Travel programme, among other things.
Welcoming the international students
Our new international students were welcomed once again for the winter semester. Both the group of exchange students and the degree-seeking students were able to get to know each other and our university facilities over a delicious breakfast. We wish you a good start in Bremen.

Internationalization Fund
Application is open until 15 February 2025
In order to enable the university's researchers to pursue more extensive projects in the spirit of internationalization, the Rectorate provides additional funds each year through an Internationalization Fund.
Funding is provided exclusively for projects that are suitable for providing impetus for longer-term internationalization projects in teaching, research and transfer. The measures must be expected to have sustainable effects that go beyond the one-time activity and must be described in detail in the application.
DAAD Scholarships and Funding Programs
Here you will find currently advertised DAAD programmes and ongoing DAAD project funding programmes. The regular call dates are the beginning of April, mid-June and the beginning of October.
The application period for the special call for proposals of the new funding program “German-Indian Academic Network for Tomorrow (GIANT) 2025-2026” is set from December 6, 2024 to January 31, 2025.

International Co-Operations
The University of Bremen has over 400 international cooperation agreements, of which around three quarters are in Europe and one quarter outside. These agreements enable student exchanges and joint research and are usually assigned to specific faculties or institutions. There are also university-wide and strategic partnerships. In the YUFE European University Alliance, the University of Bremen works for a strong Europe and a union of solidarity and cooperation. YUFE (Young Universities for the Future of Europe) aims to network ten young universities in Europe and to implement joint projects in the fields of education, research and innovation as well as to strengthen exchanges at all levels (students, academics, administration) with our European partners. With various pilot projects such as the YUFE Bachelor's degree, YUFE4Postdocs and the YUFE Staff Journey, YUFE is developing new standards and innovative models for how universities in Europe can systematically grow together.
