In order to enable the university's researchers to pursue more extensive projects in the spirit of internationalization, the Rectorate provides additional funds each year through an Internationalization Fund.
Funding is provided exclusively for projects that are suitable for providing impetus for longer-term internationalization projects in teaching, research and transfer. The measures must be expected to have sustainable effects that go beyond the one-time activity and must be described in detail in the application.

International Co-Operations

The University of Bremen has over 400 international cooperation agreements, of which around three quarters are in Europe and one quarter outside. These agreements enable student exchanges and joint research and are usually assigned to specific faculties or institutions. There are also university-wide and strategic partnerships. In the YUFE European University Alliance, the University of Bremen works for a strong Europe and a union of solidarity and cooperation. YUFE (Young Universities for the Future of Europe) aims to network ten young universities in Europe and to implement joint projects in the fields of education, research and innovation as well as to strengthen exchanges at all levels (students, academics, administration) with our European partners. With various pilot projects such as the YUFE Bachelor's degree, YUFE4Postdocs and the YUFE Staff Journey, YUFE is developing new standards and innovative models for how universities in Europe can systematically grow together.
