Job description

Initially, the appointment is limited to four years (salary group 14 TV-L). The employment is regulated by the Act of Academic Fixed-Term Contract, §2 (1) (Wissenschaftszeitvertragsgesetz – WissZeitVG). Therefore, candidates may only be considered for appointment if they still have the respective qualification periods available in accordance with § 2 (1) WissZeitVG. The permanent position of a Senior Researcher (salary group 15 TV-L) can be assigned in case of proof of outstanding aptitude, performance and competence after successful completion of an evaluation. Research and scientific teaching are carried out independently within the framework of the Bremen Higher Education Act § 24 (2). The teaching responsibilities are four teaching hours per week per semester in the position as Researcher and nine teaching hours per week as Senior Researcher.

 

The faculty is open to a broad range of research approaches including qualitative (e.g., grounded theory, case studies, ethnographies), quantitative (e.g., traditional inferential statistics, artificial intelligence, experimental research, meta-analyses) or mixed-methods approaches. Your teaching input will be centered around application-oriented project-based learning and research-based learning. The position offers promising career development opportunities, particularly the chance to establish an independent profile in the field of entrepreneurship. We are looking for an early-career researcher with the following profile:

 

Your tasks and responsibilities:

  • You independently address research questions in the area of entrepreneurship that lead to high-level publications in relevant journals. A connectivity to current entrepreneurship research activities of the faculty is welcome.
  • You independently teach in the area of entrepreneurship.
  • You participate in the supervision of PhD students (also within the faculty’s Diginomics Graduate Group),
  • You participate in the expansion of study programs of the Faculty of Business Studies and Economics, also regarding the development of new formats in
  • You participate in transfer initiatives regarding research and teaching.
  • You raise competitive third-party funds.
  • You participate in the academic self-government.

Requirements

Your qualifications (recruitment requirements):

  • University degree (diploma, master) in Business Studies or equivalent disciplines.
  • Excellent and pertinent doctoral dissertation recently pubishled with a focus on this call.
  • First publications published in the fields of this call and promising research projects.
  • Teaching experience in the subject area of entrepreneurship with research-based and application-oriented learning in methods and theories.
  • Very good English languages skills (fluently spoken and written) and ability to develop good German language skills, to be demonstrated by the time of evaluation.

 

Further are desirable:

  • International experience and contacts to utilize for research and teaching within the faculty,
  • Interest and passion for new insights, approaches and methods regarding entrepreneurship research,
  • Experience in coaching and mentoring of (student) startup projects,
  • Experience in organizing scientific workshops, conferences or seminars,
  • Confident use of contemporary media and forms of presentation for teaching,
  • Experience in the preparation of proposals for external funding.
