Last Monday a happy group of graduates of the University Bremen gathered in the grand reception room of the Bremen Town Hall to receive prizes for their outstanding final exams and doctoral theses. Ever since 1983 the Society of Friends of the University of Bremen and Jacobs University Bremen (“unifreunde”) has rewarded outstanding academic achievement with the Bremen Studienpreis. On the same evening, two special prizes for doctoral theses in the fields of Science and Engineering were also awarded. These prizes are sponsored by the corporation Bruker Daltonik GmbH and the Rotary Club Bremen-Roland. The well-attended award ceremony took place in the presence of the Bremen Senator for Education and Science, Renate Jürgens-Pieper, and “unifreunde” Chairman, Professor Bengt Beutle. Professor Rolf Drechsler, Vice President for Research and Young Researchers at the University of Bremen held the laudations for the award winners.
