The event, which is being organized by the University of Bremen, the Erwachsenenschule college of adult education, and the Kreisvolkshochschule Verden, is intended for everyone who does not possess the “normal” high school diploma and who is interested in studying at a university. The University of Bremen offers different possibilities for people without a high school graduation to enroll for studies. As of last year, for instance, people with vocational training to the level of master craftsman or similar have been able to enroll. Whichever educational path you choose, there should be no doubt about what such a decision entails: attending a full-time academic program is bound to impact on your private life. Although it offers a great opportunity to embark on a new career path, you should also realistically appraise the work involved, your powers of flexibility and coping with conflict, as well as the potential risks. Having said this, statistics show that people who choose to enter university this way can be just as successful as graduates from high school or other educational pathways.
