    This M.A. programme qualifies students for public communication positions in the dynamic media landscape of the datafied society.

    Our globally-oriented Master’s programme offers comprehensive methodological training and immersive research seminars led by world-renowned professors.

About the program

Climate change, increased inequality and growing political polarization and disengagement and mounting demographic change are perceived as central challenges for our democratic future. The Master of Arts in Media and Public Engagement is a two-year, full-time program that prepares students for careers in media-related professions that focus on social change. The program is offered in English and is open to both national and international students.

The program consists of 11 modules, which are divided into four areas:

  • Core: Mediated engagement, political communication, sustainable media, independent study
  • Integrative: Methods, research, thesis
  • Enrichment: Transcultural media, general studies
  • Practicum: Internship, media practice

Students must complete six compulsory modules, four elective modules, and the thesis. The compulsory modules provide a foundation in the key areas of media and public engagement. The elective modules allow students to customize their education to their interests and career goals.

Admission Requirements

To be admitted to the program, students must have a bachelor's degree in a relevant field, such as communication, journalism, or political science. Applicants must also demonstrate proficiency in English.

Fees

No tuition fees.

There is an administrative fee of 400€ per semester, which already includes a flat rate ticket for public transport in the greater region.

Application Procedure

Application via http://www.uni-bremen.de/en/master.html between February 01 and March 15 for in-take in the next academic year (starting early October). In addition to formal certificates, we ask you to submit a motivation letter (max. 2 pages) that articulates why you wish to be admitted to the M.A. Digital Media and Society in Bremen.
