Christian Kirchmeier and his team research how modern social contours emerged in 17thto 19th century literature. His main focus is on whether and how these forms are currently changing. To investigate this, he looks at current cultural developments – for example, artificial intelligence, political representation and self-portrayal, forms of satire, and cultural paradoxes – from the perspective of literary history. Prior to coming to Bremen, Christian Kirchmeier worked at LMU Munich, Yale University, and the University of Groningen.
