The appointment was made for a cooperative professorship with the Leibniz Institute for Prevention Research and Epidemiology (BIPS). Professor Fuhr is deputy head of the Prevention and Evaluation department at BIPS.
After completing her studies in psychology and public health and her PhD, Daniela Fuhr worked at the World Health Organization in Geneva before going to the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine in 2012. Her research primarily deals with the development and implementation of brief low-threshold psychological interventions for depression, anxiety and post-traumatic stress disorder. Another focus of her research is on the mental health of refugees and internally displaced people in low-income countries. Daniela Fuhr is an honorary professor at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine and co-editor-in-chief of the BMC magazine Conflict and Health.
