His “Marine Glycobiology” working group is a bridge group attached to both MARUM– Center for Marine Environmental Sciences and the Max Planck Institute for Marine Microbiology in Bremen. The “Glycobiochemistry” group will be established within the Faculty of Biology / Chemistry and Hehemann’s work will be funded with a Heisenberg Professorship from the German Research Foundation (DFG). After his degree in biochemistry in Hamburg, Jan-Hendrik Hehemann completed his doctoral studies at the Université Pierre et Marie Curie in Paris and Station Biologique de Roscoff (France). He subsequently worked as a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Victoria, Canada, and Massachusetts Institute of Technology, USA, prior to coming to Bremen in 2015.
