Julia Geneuss studied law in Freiburg and Aberdeen and completed her PhD in 2013 at Humboldt-Universität in Berlin. Before habilitating at Universität Hamburg in 2023, she held positions in Göttingen, Frankfurt (Oder), Potsdam, and Constance.
Julia Geneuss' research focus is on criminal law and criminal procedure law, including international and European references, and comparative law. A particular focus of her work is on national, especially German international criminal law. She is currently working on various projects relating to the criminal proceedings brought against "Syria returnees" before German courts. Another research focus is criminal information law, in particular the criminal law protection of informational privacy under the conditions of digitalization.
