The countdown is on: The Faculty of Law, the Center of Labor and Politics (ZAP), the Institute for Labour and Economy (iaw), and HERE AHEAD will move into Forum at Domshof starting in October.
Forum at Domshof will be officially opened on November 14, 2024. The Faculty of Law will welcome 300 first-year students to its orientation week on October 8. A week later, 1,200 students will also begin their studies. Extensive renovation work is currently being carried out to adapt the former NordLB building to the needs of the university.
On Thursday, July 18, Mayor Andreas Bovenschulte visited the site of the new city center campus and was very impressed: "Fantastic! Excellent learning, research, and working conditions are being created here – for the students, but also for the staff. This is a big step for the university but it's also a huge and important step towards revitalizing the city center. Student life will soon be coming to the city – I'm already looking forward to the official opening."
Plenty of Space for Studying, Teaching, and Working
In addition to study spaces and teaching rooms for the Faculty of Law, there will also be office space that will be used by the administration, teaching staff members, and employees of iaw, ZAP, and HERE AHEAD.
Several classrooms of different sizes will be created on the various floors. From smaller seminar rooms for 30 people to lecture rooms with around 135 seats, there will be space for the wide range of courses on offer. There will also be conference rooms and a cafeteria on the sixth floor. The Juridicum branch library of the Bremen State and University Library will also move into the new building with its book collection and study spaces for students.
The converted former banking hall will be an ideal meeting place for students, staff members, and teaching staff members, but also for establishing contact with the city's public – for example through events and exhibitions organized by the University of Bremen.
