Matching Challenge 2024/2025

1 € becomes 4 € - Moving Bremen together.

Every contribution counts: Donate now and help to fund four additional scholarships!

Based on the campaign “scholarship from scholarship holders for scholarship holders” which established successfully at the University of Bremen and always reached its donation target of 1800 €, there is a new campaign in the scholarship year 2024/2025:

The so-called Matching Challenge: 1€ becomes 4€ - Moving Bremen together.

How it works:

The scholarship holders of 2024/2025 collect the total contribution of 3600 € by the 13th of June, on which we will celebrate the “Bergfest”. They collect the funding e.g. from their own ranks and by organising events such as raffles or flea markets. If they manage, two sponsors will match the funding (2 x 1800 €). As the federal government doubles every donation for the Deutschlandstipendium, every euro donated becomes four euros. This results in a total amount of 14,400 € - the equivalent of four new scholarships in the funding year 2025/2026.

Donations for the scholarship holders' fundraising campaign can be made at any time via betterplace.

News

13.01.2025: Three weeks after the start of the campaign, we have already made significant progress towards our goal: We have now raised 1,248.20 €, which is 34% of the funding goal! Donations ranging from 1 € to 300 € have contributed to this. The latter were kindly contributed by our long-standing sponsor Manfred Fluß. Last Saturday (11 January), a student group was formed at the kick-off workshop to drive the project forward through collections within their own ranks and fundraising campaigns (see photo bottom right).

19.12.2024: The Matching Challenge celebrated its launch at the 2024/2025 scholarship award ceremony. Donations were collected directly via donation boxes or digitally via betterplace. A fantastic total of 838.20 € was raised - a great start for this exciting campaign. We would like to thank all guests who donated. The Rectorate of the University of Bremen also set a good example (see photo on the right). This means that we have already reached 23% of our donation target on day 1.

A scholarship from scholarship holders for scholarship holders

„The scholarship from scholarship holders for scholarship holders is a tradition that established in the last years. The scholarship holders donate a small amount of their scholarship and we raise the sum through campaigns such as flea markets or raffles. This gesture is intended to show how grateful we are as scholarship holders for the monthly 300 euros we receive. It allows us to focus on our studies and/or do voluntary work so that we can contribute something to society in return. We all agree that the Deutschlandstipendium opens up many opportunities: It not only creates networks between committed students and sponsors, but also interdisciplinary exchange and joint projects among scholarship holders. We believe that these opportunities should be open to as many people as possible. Thank you to everyone who has supported us!”

“In particular the organisation of the raffle was very important to me since I learned to get in touch with people and organisations actively. Furthermore, it taught me to withstand disappointments and rejections and to keep working towards my goal."
