The German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) supports the EU initiative of "European Universities" with the programme "European University Networks (EUN) - national initiative".

The University of Bremen is one of 22 German universities that receive national funding  alongside the continuation of the EU funding that has been approved in summer 2022. They will receive a total of around 14 million euros in funding from the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) until 2026.
