In her role as Secretary General, which she assumed in September 2023, Valerie Schegk heads the YUFE Central Office and advises the YUFE Strategic Council, the highest decision-making body within the YUFE Alliance. One of the central tasks of the council is to strengthen and deepen cooperation between the ten YUFE universities and external partners.
“We look back on a successful first project phase of YUFE and will reflect during our Annual Strategic Forum this year on which common priorities we will set for the coming years,” said Valerie Schegk. “These include approaches that lead to the sustainability of the alliance, but also the promotion of bottom-up initiatives such as BioYUFE to strengthen the commitment of various scientific fields in YUFE.”
During her visit to the University of Bremen, Maria-Valerie Schegk met with President Jutta Günther, Dr. Mandy Boehnke, Vice President for International Affairs, Academic Qualification, and Diversity, as well as YUFE’s Bremen members. She also took part in the simultaneous Quality Culture seminar, for which members from several YUFE universities gathered in Bremen. Her stay provided the opportunity for discussions with Irene Strebl, State Councillor for the Environment, Climate and Science of the Free Hanseatic City of Bremen.
