Conference Funding "Bremen Colonialism"

Researchers from the social sciences and humanities at the University of Bremen can apply for funding to organize a scientific conference. Applicants are free in the realization. Funding will be provided for an exchange oriented event with the aim of enabling cooperation and networking among scholars, promoting transfer, and contributing to the visibility of research on the topic of Bremen colonialism. The theme and program of the conference must clearly relate to Bremen's role in the history of colonialism. The acquired knowledge must be published in a conference paper. Events with an international scope are welcome.

WHAT ARE THE REQUIREMENTS?

The organization of a conference (series) on the topic of "Bremen Colonialism" is eligible for support. The decisive factor for eligibility is the contribution to the topic, the feasibility, and the quality of the format.

THE FUNDING CONDITIONS

Funding will initially be awarded for activities to host a conference that can be carried out in 2022. Publication of the findings in a conference paper is mandatory. Funding of up to 25,000 EUR can be requested for this project. Eligible for funding are, for example, preparatory activities for the implementation of the format, travel costs (travel and accommodation costs, e.g. for keynote speakers), funds for student assistants or open access publications.

Personnel funds (student assistants are excluded) and funds that are regularly financed from basic equipment (e.g., workspace and equipment) cannot be funded.

THE PROCEDURE

Applications for conference funding can be submitted until 29.04.2022. After review by the Research Funding Committee for Social Sciences and Humanities (BFK SoWi), the applications will be decided by the Vice President Research of the University of Bremen.
