Study description

The master’s programme Process-oriented materials research is designed for students who aim to pursue a scientific career in the STEM fields or a research-oriented career in industry.

This research-oriented master’s programme is embedded in the MAPEX Center for Materials and Processes and carried out by the five STEM-Faculties (Faculty 1: Physics / Electrical Engineering, Faculty 2: Biology / Chemistry, Faculty 3: Mathematics / Computer Science, Faculty 4: Production Engineering, Faculty 5: Geosciences) of the University.

Within the given module structure, students tailor their individual curriculum following their scientific interests within the disciplines of MAPEX. Being an interdisciplinary programme, ProMat enables a focused preparation for a doctoral study and a further career in science and research, as well as for research-related leadership positions in the private sector.

The personal mentor has a central role in ProMat, guiding the student to design and plan his/her individual curriculum as well as the obligatory research stay abroad.
