Das Institut für empirische und angewandte Soziologie (EMPAS) ist eine unabhängige Forschungseinrichtung der Universität Bremen. Der Schwerpunkt des Forschungsprogramms ist Sozialer Wandel und Lebensläufe im internationalen Vergleich mit dem Fokus auf Bildung, Beruf und Beschäftigung, Familie, Lebensformen und Sozialstruktur, sowie Migration. Diese inhaltlichen Schwerpunkte sind darüber hinaus eng mit der Methodenforschung verbunden. Im Mittelpunkt des Interesses liegen hier besonders Survey Methodology, dynamische Längsschnittanalysen, Mehrebenenmodelle und die Verbindung quantitativer mit qualitativen Daten.
The Institute for Empirical and Applied Sociology (EMPAS) is an independent research institute at the University of Bremen. The core areas of EMPASs research program are the study of processes of social change, the analysis of life course trajectories, and comparative sociology. It focuses on education, careers and employment, family, social structures, and migration. In its empirical research, EMPAS combines an applied orientation with high theoretical and methodological standards.
