A clear research and practical connection to current economic and IT issues is established within the specializations. Students can choose from the following specializations, of which two are selected:
Digital Business (in English): Advancing digitalization is changing business processes, strategic decisions and the entire business environment. In the Digital Business specialization, we offer you a comprehensive perspective on the impact of digital technologies on all areas of entrepreneurial and social activities. You will learn how digital innovations are changing business models, how they create opportunities for growth and efficiency and how they can also bring challenges and risks. The “Digital Business” focus will enable you to position yourself successfully in an increasingly digitalized world and actively shape digital transformation processes in companies and society.
Government Technology: In the Government Technology major, you will learn how digitalization can be used in politics, government and society through the use of innovative digital technologies, data management and artificial intelligence to strengthen democratic processes and promote efficient public administration. As government is one of the largest sectors with far-reaching societal impact, this major offers unique insights and practical skills to drive change in this important area. You will explore key areas such as eGovernment, which enables modern and citizen-centered administration, Smart City for intelligent urban infrastructures, Digital Public Participation & eParticipation to promote inclusive democratic decision-making, and GovTech, which highlights the cooperation between the state/government and start-ups. Through this specialization, you will not only gain theoretical knowledge, but also practical experience that will enable you to actively participate in shaping a digital future in the public sector.
Information Systems Research (in English): In the coming years, the economy and society will be significantly changed and shaped by a wide variety of digitalization processes. In order to be able to shape these in a future-oriented manner in politics and corporate management, first-class research is required. To prepare you for conducting such research, we offer you basic skills in dealing with methods and theories of current research in management information systems in the Information Systems Research specialization. In addition to preparing you for your final thesis, we also want to open up research-oriented career prospects for you, both at and beyond the university.
IT Management: This specialization has the following contents:
- Strategic planning and organization of processes for the management of IT services
- IT service management according to ITIL v4 and IT governance according to COBIT
- Development and implementation of an information security management system
- Sustainability goals in the operation of IT infrastructures
- Cost-benefit analyses for IT procurement decisions
