The teachers come from France, the Netherlands, Poland, and Russia, and now also increasingly from Syria – teachers who have taught in their home countries and would now like to join the German teaching service and receive individual vocational support to do so. The project managers Dr. Astrid Buschmann-Göbels, Christine Rodewald, and Professor Claudia Harsch were able to raise 500,000 euros in funding for the next four years. The “Fachsprachliches Tutorium und Coaching für Lehrkräfte aus aller Welt” (technical tutorials and coaching sessions for teachers from around the world) program is paid for by the Federal Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs and the European Social Fund.
Learning Advice and Support
In addition to linguistic and technical learning, the participating teachers are also prepared for cultural and country-specific peculiarities in the teaching profession. Teachers who achieve a level C2 qualification for their German language skills with special language courses offered by other providers receive learning advice and support at the Foreign Languages Centre, including help with exam preparation and placements in schools.

The “Fachsprachliches Tutorium und Coaching für Lehrkräfte aus aller Welt” project is part of the “Integration durch Qualifizierung” (integration through qualification) scholarship program. The Foreign Languages Centre for the Universities in the Land of Bremen (FZHB) has been working successfully in this network for three years now.
Further cooperating partners in the planning and implementation of the funding concept are the Bremen department of education, the Bremen department of economics, the university, the Zentrum für Lehrerbildung (Center for Teacher Education), and the Landesinstitut für Schule (state institute for schools).
