How can I make my transport chain more environmentally friendly? Which unused synergies are lying dormant in my in-house process flows? And do I need to focus more on artificial intelligence to make sure I keep up to date? Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in the logistics sector are dealing with such questions increasingly. They must not feel alone: In the future, innovation ambassadors are to be available to the Bremen logistics sector in order to solve the problems.
Joint Venture of Four Partners
BreLogIK – short for “Bremen Logistics – Transfer and Innovation Culture” – is the name of a joint venture of the Bremen Research Cluster for Dynamics in Logistics (LogDynamics) at the University of Bremen, Bremerhaven University of Applied Sciences, Bremen Institute for Production and Logistics GmbH (BIBA), and the Institute of Shipping Economics and Logistics. “The aim of the further training is to sustainably improve the scientific knowledge transfer for Bremen’s logistics SMEs,” explains project member Andrea Voth. “This is to be done by training early-career researchers from various disciplines to become innovations ambassadors, who are to be available to the companies with their knowledge.”
The background: The logistics industry – one of the most significant driving forces of Bremen’s economy – is characterized by small and medium-sized enterprises. Aligning their organizations with innovation poses a challenge to SMEs that they can often not overcome. “Even if the potential is known, companies cannot always implement it on their own. This is where BreLogIK comes in: Opportunities that have remained unused to date are to be exhausted with the close alliance between Bremen’s scientific sector and the logistics industry,” according to Andrea Voth.
Case Studies in the Innovation Laboratory
The BreLogIK project partners offer early-career researchers in the state of Bremen a qualification to become a scientific innovation ambassador for Bremen’s logistics industry. The class schedule includes design thinking, methods of agile project management, and communication training. Additionally, detailed case studies are solved in the innovation laboratory. After acquiring the qualification, the newly trained innovation ambassadors can test their specialist knowledge within accompanied projects in cooperation with Bremen enterprises. In this way, their own research work gains new, detailed impulses. In the long-term, the logistics-related research work is to operate more closely to the working reality of the regional industry.
The training begins in January 2021 and is anticipated to end in July 2021. Only a restricted number of participants are allowed. The registration deadline is November 30, 2020. The training costs 150.00 euros plus VAT.
