Global Ranking on Sustainability: University of Bremen Ranks Top 10

1183 universities all over the world took part in the “UI GreenMetric World University Ranking” in 2023, which assesses the sustainability of universities. The University of Bremen ranks 10th.

The award ceremony took place on December 5 in Dubai. Professor Jutta Günther, President of the University of Bremen, participated with a video message. “Sustainability is the fundamental guiding principle of the University of Bremen. I am very pleased about our strong performance in the international sustainability ranking of universities. We have been taking part in this since 2012 and have been able to improve our rating continuously. This is an incentive for us to continue to stand up for sustainability, climate justice, and climate neutrality,” she said.

The “UI GreenMetric World University Ranking” has been conducted annually since 2010 by Universitas Indonesia, the largest state university in Indonesia. An extensive, detailed catalog of criteria assesses six categories of the participating universities: Setting and Infrastructure, Energy and Climate Change, Waste, Water, Transportation, and Education and Research.

Participation in the ranking is voluntary and the results are published publicly at greenmetric.ui.ac.id.
