The University of Bremen is looking for three students that are committed to open, inclusive, and student-centred higher education to join the YUFE Student Forum and bring their perspective in the implementation of the YUFE vision. Diversity and inclusivity are at the core of the YUFE identity. We strongly encourage students with all backgrounds and identities to apply for the Student Forum to foster an inclusive YUFE community – apply now!
What’s YUFE?
The Young Universities for the Future of Europe (YUFE) is a partnership consisting of ten young research-intensive universities from across Europe. The YUFE Alliance aims at innovating European higher education by developing the leading model of a young, student-centred, open and inclusive European University. To this end, we develop new joint study programmes, and learning opportunities for students, teachers, researchers and administrative staff. As a unique ecosystem linking universities to communities, YUFE is based on cooperation between higher education institutions, the public and private sector, and citizens across Europe.
What’s the YUFE Student Forum?
The purpose of the Student Forum is to make sure that the perspective of the students is always present in the realisation of the YUFE vision. From the outset, students have played a central role in all stages of the alliance – from proposal preparation to the current implementation phase. Each partner university of the YUFE Alliance has committed to have three local students participate in the Student Forum and the working groups that will oversee YUFE’s implementation. The YUFE Student Forum representatives are important in co-leading and co-creating the YUFE project and vision. Students are involved in the whole governance structure of YUFE, even on the level of the Strategic Council (University Presidents), where the President of the YUFE Student Forum acts as a YUFE Vice-President. As a student-member, you will be involved in shaping some of the key YUFE developments, e.g. joint programmes, EDI-strategies, civil outreach activities and much more.
What’s your role?
As a YUFE student-member of the University of Bremen, you will:
- represent the University of Bremen in the YUFE Alliance Student Forum and work with the student representatives of the other YUFE partners to ensure that the input of students is reflected in the development of the alliance
- participate in selected YUFE working groups in which the University of Bremen is active, e.g. community outreach or the development of new YUFE teaching offers
- work with your fellow University of Bremen student-colleagues and YUFE staff on communicating YUFE opportunities to students within the university, e.g. information events.
In order to be eligible for this position, you need to be enrolled as a full time student at the University of Bremen and you should be able to commit your participation for at least one year. An ideal candidate would be able to communicate in English as well as German, and has good communication and organisation skills (or is motivated to improve these). An open and inclusive mind and the ability to take initiative is key. Motivation, enthusiasm and commitment to make truly European Higher Education a reality is needed. Moreover, you need to be able to dedicate sufficient time (min. 10 hours/month as an indication) and be willing to engage in European travels (approximately two Student Forum meetings per year; travel costs are covered by the University of Bremen). As a compensation, you will receive a 10-hour/month contract as a student assistant based in the International Office of the University of Bremen. Depending on interest and availability, there is an opportunity for additional paid hours as a student assistant for project administration tasks, too.
Are you ready to take part in making history and change the education landscape of Europe?
