The degree programme "German Studies" is made up of the subsections (German) Literature and Language Studies.
Courses in traditional medieval studies (studies in the literature and language of the middle ages) are integrated within the respective subsections of the programme.
The Bachelor programme has a special focus on the intercultural dimensions of German Studies. In all the aforementioned subsections, for instance, a very special emphasis is placed on the aspects arising from contact with the respective non-German pendant (literature, language, culture, persons). This encompasses an elective speciality in the field of German as a second language.
